  • I was planning to use latex instead for Rakan's small skull, but then it wouldn't be exactly the same ( well I don't really know since I'm going into a blur thing again xD ). I wanted to film the process with the small skull ( smaller so it's shorter to film, and if I was doing some mistakes I could correct them ) but I used almost all my silicone making the mold for Xayah skull. I'm super happy I was able to make it in one try ! Once this is done, I filled it with special expanding foam the inside of the skull, like that, it stays strong but also light, because it's not as heavy as it would be with resin filling it. Because, you have to move your mold to put resin everywhere but you can't see anything, it's a bit a blind work. For the mold, there's a first shell with silicone which gives the shape and details, then there's a plaster shell around it to help the silicone holding its shape ( silicone is a flexible material, so it doesn't hold its shape very well on big things ).įor the casting, there a thin coat of resin which covers the inside of the whole mold, and that's what I was scared of. Xayah's skull casting is a success ! I've already been casting some things before, but not with big things or with these methods.
